There has been a noteworthy change in federal regulation affecting homeowners! In accordance with increased efficiency goals, the U.S. Department of Energy will be enforcing a higher standard of efficiency in air conditioning and heating systems. Current standards require air conditioning systems and heat pumps to have at least a 10 SEER (S easonal E nergy E fficiency R atio) rating. However, as of January 23, 2006, equipment with a SEER rating less than 13 can no longer be manufactured. Will homeowners be prepared?

. Homeowners may be forced to make costly replacements of entire air conditioning or heating systems.
